Introducing My Nelson Patriots

Yesterday Scott became an official member of Sons of the American Revolution (S.A.R.), joining his dad in the Delaware Crossing Chapter. Both ordered official uniforms and are members of the chapter's Color Guard. The uniform is a replica of the one worn by General George Washington. Dennis participated in the DeSoto Days Festival Parade in September. It was his first parade, and the other members said it was also the longest parade route they had ever walked. Notice all the firetrucks behind them? Their horns and sirens went on for the entire two miles! Ear plugs will now be kept in the pockets of the jackets for just such occasions. On Sept. 20th, the SAR chapter held a picnic at which they also performed a "flag retirement ceremony." This is the only legal time that an American flag can be burned. They retired about 20 flags including two of our own. Ryan, do you recognize the man with your dad? That's John Forbes in his Lewis & Clark reenactment clothing. He said he didn't know much about economics until you and your friends were seniors at SM South!
